Interest Coordinator

Every Seventh-day Adventist Church should have a person designated to keep track of those interested in becoming members of the church, as well as those who have a more casual interest. Working closely with the pastor, the Interest Coordinator is responsible for providing the pastoral staff with up-to-date records of those who have expressed an interest in the church, been through a series of meetings, or have been attending worship services.

Some of the duties of the Interest Coordinator may include the following:

1. Develop an interest file (preferably in a database spreadsheet format).
2. Work closely with the pastoral staff to develop the criteria for names to include.
3. Carefully guard the list from improper use or abuse.
4. Work with the church greeters to get accurate visitor contact information.
5. Invite members to submit names of people they know who have an interest in the church.

Some of the contact to include in an interest file may include:

1. Vacation Bible School attendees
2. Seminar attendees
3. Sabbath Worship visitors
4. Non-member church school children
5. Bible study interests
6. Community service contacts
7. Prison ministry contacts
